I started collaborating with Josh in 2017, when he invited me to collaborate with him at the OFFF Barcelona after party .
Typically, he'll render out videos from Processing and I'll bring them into Quartz Composer or whatever tool I'm using at the time, and a process of experimentation and play begins, where I'll set up some rules where I tell the software to do something depending on the frequency band and also depending on the loudness of a specific frequency.
The result is a series of happy accidents, which I discover and uncover when I’m immersed in my creative flow.
Christoph developed the concept & visuals, Florian Renner did the animations & renderings and I remixed and edited the footage, adding the glitching disturbance and syncing it all to the audio track.
There was a lovely parallel storyline in the incredibly touching viral video 'The Phoenix' - by The Tenth Man - and through a wonderful encounter with Richard Seabrooke and his team, we were able to weave some of their story into ours.
